Does Valid Automatically Text Your Contacts?
Valid does not automatically invite everyone in your contacts when you install the app, sign in, or grant contact access. On iPhone, a member-shared invitation opens the Messages composer. The member can review the recipients and message, send it, or cancel. Opening the composer does not send the invitation.
What does contact access allow?
Valid asks for permission before reading contacts from your phone. On supported iPhone versions, the system can offer limited contact access as well as broader access. Review the choices shown by your device and share only what you are comfortable sharing.
Contact information can include names and phone numbers. Valid uses shared contacts to help identify people you know, show relevant classmates, and support polls and invitation features. Our Privacy Policy explains information collection, use, service providers, and retention.
Does Valid “steal” my contacts?
Valid requests device permission to access your contacts. If you grant access and share contacts, Valid processes that information for its social features. We do not buy or sell data. Shared contact information is still data we handle, so it is worth understanding the permission before you choose it.
Contact access is optional and is not required to receive compliments. That does not mean contact-based friend discovery and other features work identically when access is declined.
Does syncing contacts send invitations from my phone?
Installing Valid or granting contact access does not automatically send invitations to your entire contact list. A member-shared invitation opens the phone’s message composer, where the member chooses whether to send it. Valid also sends separate service activity notifications; our text explanation describes those messages and opt-out options.
Why can someone appear before creating an account?
Members can select people already saved in their contacts in polls before those people join Valid. Being included in a poll is not the same as signing up. If you do not want to participate, you can contact support without creating an account.
How do I change contact access?
- Open your phone’s settings and find the contact permission for Valid.
- Review the available access options. Labels and limited-access controls vary with the operating-system version.
- Change the permission, then return to Valid. If you need help finding the setting, tell support which device you use.
Changing device permission controls future access through that permission. Do not assume it also deletes information already shared with the service. For removal, send a separate request to [email protected].
What should a removal request include?
Privately identify the affected phone number and say whether you want information removed, service texts stopped, and your number excluded from voting. The privacy policy describes retention exceptions and the limited suppression record used to honor exclusion requests. Ask support to confirm which actions have been completed.
