What the cited compliment-text report concerns
The KNWA/FOX24 report about compliment texts targeting students identifies Peek: Secret Compliment and quotes concerns from Rogers Public Schools. Its contact-list allegations concern the app named in that report. They are not a technical investigation of Valid.
The September 3, 2026 WGN version of that report also names Peek: Secret Compliment and its developer, Dyve Studios. It republishes the KNWA reporting; it is not a separate investigation of Valid.
The main text of Officer Gomez’s September 8, 2026 Facebook warning likewise names Peek. Some comments discuss Valid, but those comments do not change which app the original post describes or establish that Valid automatically texts an entire contact list.
A source about Peek should not be used on its own to establish Valid’s behavior. Equally, a complaint that actually concerns Valid deserves a response about Valid. Non-affiliation does not answer every privacy or safety question.
Does Valid automatically invite every contact?
No. Installing Valid or granting contact access does not automatically send invitations to your entire contact list. Members choose whether to send invitations through their phone’s message composer.
Valid also sends separate activity notifications through its messaging service. Our policy is recipient consent and honoring opt-outs. Read how Valid texts work for message types, inclusion before signup, and how to ask for help.
What should families know about Valid itself?
Valid is built around positive polls and connections within school communities. Our published policy is human review of polls before publication, alongside reporting and blocking controls. These tools do not guarantee that every interaction will feel positive.
Voter identities are hidden by default, but reveal features can disclose identity to a recipient. Valid offers optional paid features and does not promise complete anonymity. School selection and contact matching should not be treated as proof that every person’s enrollment was independently verified.
Where can I check a specific concern?
The parent FAQ covers non-affiliation, moderation, anonymity, purchases, and contacts. The Privacy Policy explains data practices. Send a specific message or product concern privately to [email protected] so we can investigate the actual situation.
